Dr. Sarma is carrying out plasma research for understanding of
the basic plasma properties and its related phenomena in various
plasma systems and utilization of these systems for real applications.
Dr. Sarma is actively working on the utilization of modified Double
plasma device for the production of IR anti reflection coating on
silicon and Germanium wafers. Importantly double plasma device is
being largely used for basic plasma experiments.
He has active collaborations with scientists from organizations
like Institute for Plasma Research (IPR, Gandhinagar), Bhabha Atomic
Research Centre (BARC, Mumbai), Institute of Space & Astronautical
Science (ISAS, Japan), University of Innsbruck, Austria, Max Plank
Institute of Plasma Physics, Graifswald, Germany.
Recently he has been working on an innovative system called Positive
Pulsed Biased Plasma Source for the production of Ultra-nanocrystaline
Diamond Like Carbon (UDLC) film and processing of the conducting
and insulating materials. UDLC films are generally absorbing in
the visible region but have good transmission in the IR region of
the spectra. Also, currently he is exploring the use of plasma in
oil and gas exploration like plasma catalytic reforming of natural
gas and hydrogen manufacturing using low current non thermal plasma
source.
Specialization:
Plasma Physics (Basic & Application).
Research Interest:
Application Plasma for extracting hydrocarbon & Works related
to Petrophysics.
