As the global nuclear renaissance unfolds, the need
for a qualified nuclear workforce cannot be undermined.
The School of Nuclear Energy (SNE) at Pandit Deendayal
Petroleum University (PDPU) aims at developing “nuclear
ready” engineers who can effectively undertake
career assignments in the global civilian nuclear power
industry.
The School of Nuclear Energy comprises of senior faculty
members who have held leadership positions at Department
of Energy (DAE) organizations such as the Bhabha Atomic
Research Center (BARC) and Nuclear Power Corporation
of India Limited (NPCIL) leading research and project
assignments for over 30 years. The expertise of the
faculty, augmented by world-class infrastructure, extensive
industry exposure and rigorous research work, presents
a holistic learning experience to students.
The School of Nuclear Energy currently offers a 2-year
full-time M.Tech programme in Nuclear Engineering. Candidates
applying for the M.Tech programme must have a Bachelors
degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation/
Chemical/ Civil/ Industrial/ Metallurgical Engineering
or M.Sc. in Physics / Electronics with a minimum CPI
of 6.5 or 60% marks. Sponsored candidates satisfying
the above criteria with a minimum industry experience
of two years may also apply.
The programme is divided into four semesters in which
students will be exposed to a wide range of subjects
like radiation physics, fuel management, plant operation
and maintenance, regulatory framework, etc. Students
will undertake practical work at the state-of-the-art
fundamental and equipment laboratories. Research and
teaching assignments are also offered to eligible candidates.
The M.Tech programme shall present career opportunities
to students with utilities, manufacturing companies,
R & D centers, technical service providers, government
agencies, and the like. The programme is also suitable
for professionals working in the power sector, be it
thermal, hydro or wind, seeking to enhance their knowledge
of the nuclear power industry and wanting to develop
transferable skill-sets.
