He obtained his Ph.D. from IIT Bombay, India in Systems and Control Engineering. During this time he worked on a sponsored project on ‘Fault Detection and Diagnosis in Integrated Scale Complex Plants’. He then worked at ABB Corporate Research Centre, Bangalore as a Research Scientist in Control and Optimization group. During his association with ABB, he worked in the areas of statistical analysis, data mining, state estimation, model predictive control, etc.

He also worked with Prof. Babatunde Ogunnaike as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Delaware, USA in the department of Chemical Engineering. In this position He worked jointly on a sponsored research project with Corning Inc., USA. The project was geared towards development of novel control techniques to enhance the product quality of designed products such as display technology glass.  He also proposed a control theoretic approach, called customer feedback control, to improve customer satisfaction. He has also worked in the areas of embedded simulation, micro-controller based controller implementation, etc.
