Dr. Dhiren Modi did his graduation (Mechanical) from BVM Engineering College, VV Nagar, M.S. (Mechanical) from University of Delaware, USA and PhD (Mechanical) from University of Nottingham, UK. He has five years’ of industrial experience, working in one of the largest steel manufacturing plants in India. He has also undertaken numerous teaching assignments while pursuing his higher studies. After his PhD, he has worked for one and half years as a research fellow at the University of Nottingham, before joining IIT Gandhinagar as an assistant professor. Dr. Modi has experience of teaching courses on Solid Mechanics (theroy and laboratory), Engineering Graphics and Numerical methods. He is recipient of the Chevening developing solutions scholarships, while pursuring his PhD studies.

Dr. Modi’s main field of research interest is processing of polyment composites using LCM processing family, mainly Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) and Vacuum Infusion (VI)/Vacuum Assisted RTM (VARTM). His future research endeavor would be focused on the development of better modeling tools for the VI process, development of VI process for small wind turbines and processing of bio-composites.
