Dr. Anirban Das joined the School of Petroleum Technology
in Dec. 2008 as an Asst. Professor. Prior to joining SPTG,
he was working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Hiroshima
University, Japan. The prestigious fellowship was awarded
by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. After
having done his PhD from Physical Research Laboratory,
in 2005, he went to Canada for a one-year postdoctoral
fellowship, to work in the Department of Earth Sciences,
University of Ottawa.
His research interests fall in the larger domain of
isotope and environmental geochemistry. During his Ph.D,
he has extensively worked on the geochemistry of rivers
draining the Deccan basalts, India, using elemental
and isotope proxies. During his postdoctoral fellowship
abroad he also worked on the problems related to environmental
and marine geochemistry, using X-ray synchrotron radiation
and its interaction with matter. Most of his research
works are published in quality international journals.
In addition, he also reviewed articles for quite a number
of international journals.
His future direction of research would be to address
problems in the fields of environmental geochemistry
using organic-proxies, in addition to continuing his
research interests on chemical weathering. At SPTG,
he is currently involved in teaching courses on marine
geochemistry, thermodynamics, environmental geochemistry,
and chemistry to the BTECH students.
Specialization: Geochemistry
Research Areas:
Chemical weathering-climate connections, application
isotopes in geochemistry, Environmental geochemistry,
