Dr. Shukla is carrying out research in Renewable Energy Technology; RET for better utilization and effective dissemination of knowledge for real life applications. Dr. Shukla is actively working on the utilization of RET for development of a solar powered laboratory of 1 kWhr using digital signal processor to cater for the disaster like situation. The development of RET is pivotal to meet the target of 20% energy need through this route by 2020.

He has collaborations with scientists from organizations like Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute (SPRERI, Vallabh Vidya Nagar), Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRES, GOI), Gadhia Solar Energy Systems, The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI), Indian institute of Technology (IITK) and Solar Cooker International.

Recently he is exploring the futuristic areas like:
• Reservoir studies through minimal access drilling,
• active control of oil seepage through various route and
• Establishment of rural knowledge documentation centre.
