Prof. Tarun Shah obtained his Master of Engineering (Elect.) from Gujarat University & also a Govt. of India recognized PG Diploma in Training & Development from ISTD, New Delhi.

Before joining PDPU in April 2011 as Director (Academics) he was Registrar at D. D. University, Nadiad where his academic career started in 1984. In his career span of twenty seven years there, he worked as a Faculty in Electrical Engineering for eleven years. In addition, he managed the post of Controller of Examinations for the next twelve years and he resumed responsibility as Registrar for another four years. Besides his role as an administrator, he imparted there courses in Self Development as a part of the regular curriculum to undergraduate technology students for thirteen years. During his tenure as the Controller of Examinations he was also entrusted as Member Secretary to the Board of Management & the Academic Council, & also as the Prof. In-Charge for the Extramural Affairs of the University.

At PDPU he has been also entrusted to act as the Controller of Examinations since June 2011. Being engaged in administration of academia he endeavors to balance sensitivity & efficiency. Out of his otherwise constant schedule he has been also taking out time for a few developmental causes. He has been associated with a couple of non-profit social organizations in Gujarat. There are two rare books well supportive to Self Development, to his credit. He has been also involved as a member on the editorial board of a forty year old monthly Gujarati publication which is known for its critical thinking & liberalism of approach for a range of development issues of an individual & hence the society at large.
