On Monday, October 11, 2010, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University and Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Applications & Geoinformatics (BISAG), Gandhinagar, for academic and research collaboration in the applications of Geoinformatics in various areas related to the energy sector as well as in the study of Geology and Geography.

Director General Prof. N. R. Dave signed the MoU on behalf of PDPU, and Mr. T. P. Singh, Director, BISAG, signed it on behalf of BISAG.

Possible specific areas of collaboration are:

  1. Use of GIS and GPS for oil and gas on-shore operations and distribution.
  2. Use of satellite remote sensing and GIS data for oil and gas distribution.
  3. Use of satellite remote sensing data for assessment of suitable location for soloar power generation.
  4. Use of satellite and remote sensing data for assessment of current and projected impact of climate change.
  5. Provision for faculty and postgraduate students of PDPU to carry out their work at BISAG, and
