Extravagant Flaring–@ Flare 2011!!
The students of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar is holding its second annual Techno- cult festival, Flare 2011, PDPU’s on the 15th, 16th and 17th of April 2011. Keeping alive the tradition of Flare 2010, the event kicked off on the evening of 15th April with a stellar performance by the folk-fusion band ‘Jaipur Beats’. Their beautiful tunes mesmerized one and all and provided a perfect start to Flare 2011.
The second day of the fest-16th of April saw a variety of events including Treasure hunt, LAN gaming, Roadies, Quick-o-cuisine, Rangoli, Pot painting, Shoe painting, Combustion-the music event being organized throughout the day. Students from colleges like DA-IICT, Nirma University, Kalol Institute of Technology, IDOL, Ganpath University, Ujjain University, Charusat University etc. took part in a number of events. ‘Battle of Bots’ was organized by the in- house robotics club ‘Cretus’. Unique ideas like ‘AMALGAMATION’ – an event aimed at school children and ‘ILLUMINATI’- a general paper presentation competition were also part of the technical events in the fest. Abhivyakti-the lecture series organized by the SPE student chapter of PDPU was a highly knowledgeable experience for everyone present. ‘THE LOUNGE’ in the campus had been specially designed for being a total boredom buster with 24*7 music, fun debates and non-stop enjoyment. Stalls surrounding the lounge area served a variety of food items and mock tails along with other fun stuff like tattoo making and hair styling. ‘GO GREEN’ an initiative taken by Indian Youth Climate Network was a part of the social responsibility campaign that PDPU has undertaken. The evening ended with a mindboggling performance by the highly acclaimed rock band Highway 61. The students from PDPU and neighboring institutes enjoyed the performance to the fullest.
The last day of the fest, 17th of April again set the campus abuzz with a fresh round of events including Innovative painting, Face painting, Minnit to Winnit, Byte Turbine, Mehendi, Zugzwang etc being enjoyed by one and all. Adhyayan-the Paper presentation organized by the Petrotech student chapter of PDPU. UPES, Dehradun students actively participated in the event.
There is an eager wait for Ablaze-the dance competition, to be held in the evening. The fest is scheduled to be wrapped up by performances by the renowned band Agnee as well as the king of remixes-DJ Suketu. |
