25th to 29th July, 2011 - Induction Programme

To welcome the new batch of engineers on campus Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University organized a one week induction programme. The main objective of the induction programme was that the students can know the complete university in a week.

The programme was divided in a way that all the five days students will be introduced to something new. On the first day new students finished their registration, accommodation at the hostels, transport registration, canteen registrations, identity card making, library registrations etc. The formal welcome of the students was also done by Prof. Banik, Director General, PDPU and the Directors of various schools followed by dinner.

The second day of the programme was mainly organized so that students can get friendly with the campus and the staff of the university. The second day programme consisted of an introduction to PDPU, its schools and its departments. They were introduced to the key person of each department at PDPU. The students were also given guidelines about the examinations and its rules.

The third day of the programme was a fun-filled day for all the new comers on campus as they were assigned a task to decorate their new campus. Their effort was judged and the group who decorated its area in the best possible way was rewarded with a prize. After the decoration activity, MR. Sunil Parekh presented a lecture on Importance of Research in the field of Engineering to motivate students towards research & to develop understanding on research skills

The fourth day of the programme started with a lecture by Mr. Daudbhai Ganchi on Communication Skills. Later on students were taking on industry visit to companies like IFFCO, T & R, Mahatma Mandir, Godrej City, KHS, ONGC to gain a practical view of the engineering industry.

The fifth and the last day of the induction programme were specially designed so that students can interact with professionals of the industry and they can share their experiences with the students. The day had lectures/ interactive sessions with renowned people of the industry. Dr. K.D.P. Nigam IIT Delhi (Board member of PNGRB) presented a lecture on importance of engineers. The Scope of Civil Engineers - Future Perspectives was discussed by Mr. S. H. Vora Regional Manager - L & T, ECC. The day was concluded by an interactive and interesting quiz taken by Mr. Sathya, quizzer and career consultant.

The overall induction programme was designed so that the students get friendly with the environment at the University and they do not face any difficulty in future. It was made sure that students were informed about all the facilities available on campus, different departments at PDPU and rules & regulations of the University.
