Flare-2010 - March 18, 2010
Flare, the first Techno-Cult festival of PDPU, a three day festival (18th to 20th March, 2010) was organized and managed by the students of PDPU. What is ‘Flare’? . Some will say that it is simply a college festival; but it is certainly so much more. It is an amalgamation of emotions, a techno-cultural conglomerate, and a whirlpool drawing people near from far – flung places to meet, interact and learn by means of a wide variety of activities. 'Flare', the techno-cultural festival of PDPU was an attempt to capture the joyful elation of a moment spent in rapture, its complete and utter bliss for all the PDPU family.
The inaugural ceremony of the event was held on the eve of March 18, 2010. The inauguration was followed by the performance of Gazi Khan, a renowned Rajasthani folk singer and his team. |

The second day of the Techno-Cult fest (19th March, 2010 picked up the pace as the day wore on Some of the highlights of the Flare events were the “Pele's bot”, a robot football contest in which PDPU had the most dramatic victory subduing their opponents by a score of 8 - 1. The day also witnessed latent writing talents take flight in the essay - writing competition and the story - writing competition, debate competitions, sporting events like “The Amazing Race”, the singing competition “Alaap”, poster - making contest heralded the close of most of the activities of the day. The evening was filled with rock bands jamming to their tunes. The day moved to an end on a high note quite literally to the music of the famous band - Antariksh who gave a most heartening and rocking performance that will be remembered by all who attended for many days to come. |

The third and the final day of the event (20th March, 2010) was little different as the festivities continued one after the other. The roadies hunt and the amazing race final events took place to great fanfare. Another one of the show – stealers was the selection of Mr. And Miss Flare. While all this was going on, other parts of the college saw the successful conclusion of the poetry writing and recitation contest. One of the key attractions was the LAN gaming contest. The participating teams were “Project Mayhem”, DA - IICT, STC, SLS, SPM and six teams from SPT. These events gave way to the dancing competition which was a great hit among all those who attended. Finally, as the evening wore down, the palpable energy of an excited frenzy could be felt to be coming as the “Jal” band arrived. The evening concluded with a splendid performance by the “Jal” band and the crowd was completely spell bound. |

With more than 20 invited colleges and an audience of approximately 5000 students, it was a time when everybody including the professors and the students along with the helping staff and all the members associated with the PDPU family teamed up for Flare, it finally succeeded up to be a gala event, it’s certainly a highlight of the entire year for everyone. |
