Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University hosted the 3rd Annual Sports Meet PETROCUP – 2011 from the 25th to 31st of January, 2011. The Opening Ceremony was organised on the 25th of January, and Chief Guest of the event Prof. P. K. Banik, Director-General of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University inaugurated the event and declared PETROCUP - 2011 open. The Annual event saw rich and diversified participation from 17 universities which included Gujarat National Law University, IIT-Gandhinagar and Nirma University among many others.

The event witnessed fierce competition where sports enthusiasts vied for top honours in 16 categories and also for the coveted trophy of the Overall Champions of PETROCUP – 2011. Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University was declared the Overall Champion of PETROCUP – 2011. This was the third time in a row that PDPU had won the top honours at the event. Various Add-on events held during the course of the event saw active participation from students. The Presentation Ceremony was held on the 10th of February, 2011. The Guests of Honour for the event were Prof. Bhavesh Patel, Director, School of Petroleum Management; Prof G.P. Karmakar, Director, School of Petroleum Technology; Prof. Anirbid Sircar of SPT; Prof. T.P. Singh, Coordinator Student Affairs, SPT and Prof. Anil Markana, Faculty In-charge, UG Sports Committee. The winners of various categories were awarded mementos and certificates.
