Energy Consulting Conclave 2010 at
Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University

On 20th November, 2010, School of Petroleum Management at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University hosted one of a kind “Energy Consulting Conclave 2010”. The chief guest for the event was Mr. N Visvanathan (Sr. Manager, Energy, PricewaterhouseCoopers). Other eminent speakers included Mr. Sanath Kumar Chattopadhyaya (zonal client manager, DNV), Mr. Y.G. Shah (Partner, Deloitte Haskins & Sells), Mr. Shahji Zacharias (Business Development, Chemical & Petroleum Sector, IBM), Mr. Ninad Dhanorkar (Sr. Consultant, Mahindra Satyam) and Mr. Puneet Suri (Project Director, Mott MacDonalds). The event was also graced by the presence of Mr. D.J. Pandian, IAS (Principal Secretary, Energy & Petroleum Department, Govt. of Gujarat).

This conclave was aimed at providing a platform for addressing key issues, prospects and challenges faced by the consulting industry in shaping the energy sector. Majors topics presented in the conclave were regarding the role of IT and consultancy services in energy sector and challenges faced by the firms. Quite a few questions were posed by students to the speakers on issues like managing risks associated with energy sector, taxation practices, certifications and new areas of IT investments. Those queries were addressed comprehensively by the expert speakers.
